Cameroon Loss: A Feeling Of Disappointment In The Diaspora

The Cameroon diaspora which makes one of the largest of all African diaspora was quite hopeful of the Cameroonian soccer team’s position in the CAN – Coupe d’Afrique des Nations, also known as Africa Cup of Nations. However, the last match between Cameroon and Egypt turned out to be a grey cloud for them.

The love and support the Cameroonian soccer team, also known as The Indomitable Lions received before the match was quite overwhelming with diaspora from all around the world dropping in their support and visualizing the team as the winners of not only the match but of the entire tournament. The match held on February 4th, 2022 between Cameroon and Egypt witnessed the latter as the winning team as the host Cameroon stood on the third position in the leadership chart of the CAF. The Cameroon had defeated Egypt earlier in the 2017 finale of Coupe d’Afrique des Nations and emerged as the champion of the tournament that year. Egypt scored 3 penalties that led them to the finale whereas Cameroon was able to score just one.

The entire Cameroon along with the national Soccer team was rushed with a gush of sadness, however, the team is keeping its head held high for playing in such a terrific manner. Being a good sport, the team even wished the Egypt team for a better game in the finale, to be held on February 6, 2022. Egypt is set to play against Senegal in the finale while Cameroon will face Burkina Faso to secure the third place on the leadership board. The diaspora and the supporters are still keeping their love alive for the Cameroonian soccer team which is going to be the driving force of their energy in the next CAF.
